International Women's Day 2007

Another successful International Women's Day event was organized by the Women's Resource Service this year. For the third successive year, Marlena Sue Basser and Zenith Virago compered the days events of entertainers: musicians, dancers, drummers, story-tellers, witty women poets, and the 2007 great debate.

The topic this year was If women ruled the world, we wouldn't want equal rights! and was generously adjudicated by local identity, Gina Baker. As you can imagine, all speakers were provocative, sometimes responding to the topic with a tongue in cheek, sometimes with revenge, and occasionally making some serious points about what equality between the sexes might look like!

Mandy Nolan followed by the Mullum Rouge dancers brought the day to a close with even more laughs and admiration for women's talents.
